Plain-language summary

You can use the typing test without an account. The text you type, per-keystroke timing, generated drills and recent test history are processed in your browser. SquidType does not intentionally receive or sell this information.

Information stored on your device

SquidType uses browser local storage to remember the total number of completed tests and up to one hundred recent test summaries. A summary can contain the date, test mode, language, WPM, accuracy, Focus score and error count. It does not contain the full text you typed. You can delete this data at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Text entered in Custom mode is processed only in the open browser session and is not added to result history or uploaded to SquidType. The selected color theme, sound preference and cookie-consent choice are stored locally. A name entered for a certificate is used in the browser to create that download and is not added to the saved result history. Local storage does not automatically send its contents to SquidType.

Technical requests and hosting logs

Like most websites, the hosting and security providers may process technical request information such as IP address, date and time, requested URL, browser type and security signals. This is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse and investigate failures. Retention and processing depend on the configured hosting provider.

Analytics, cookies and advertising

Advertising is currently disabled. SquidType does not load Google AdSense code or reserve empty ad spaces while advertising is disabled. If advertising is enabled later, ads will appear only outside the active typing interface and will be clearly separated from navigation and controls.

Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Before serving ads where consent is legally required, SquidType will configure an appropriate consent-management platform and give visitors the available privacy choices. The Cookie Policy will be updated with the active vendors and purposes.

SquidType will not ask visitors to click ads, will not disguise ads as navigation and will not place ads where accidental interaction is likely.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information, and to object or withdraw consent. Because test history remains on your device, the fastest way to delete it is through your browser settings. This policy may change when the service, legal requirements or vendors change. Material changes will receive a new effective date.
