02Accuracy before speed

Useful feedback, not vanity numbers.

03Eight typing languages

English, Arabic, Russian and five more.

Why SquidType

Practice the weakness, not the paragraph.

Most typing tests end with a score. SquidType studies the useful signals behind it—missed characters, hesitation, rhythm breaks and accuracy—and turns them into a short next drill.

Rhythm map

See where your cadence breaks instead of chasing one average number.

Mistake loop

Generate a compact practice line from the characters you actually missed.

Proof you can share

Export a named PDF or PNG certificate and share a clear result chart.

A better five-minute routine
1

Warm up accurately

Type for 30 seconds at a pace where you can stay above 96% accuracy.

2

Read the signal

Use the Coach insight to identify misses, pauses or punctuation friction.

3

Repeat one focused drill

Practice the generated line once, then retest. Stop before fatigue lowers form.

Typing test FAQ

Concise answers based on how the test actually works.

What is a good typing speed?+

For everyday work, 40 WPM is a useful baseline. Many office professionals type 50–70 WPM. Accuracy matters first: a stable 55 WPM at 97% accuracy is usually more useful than 75 WPM with frequent corrections.

How does SquidType calculate WPM?+

SquidType uses the standard convention of five correct characters per word. Correct characters are divided by five, then divided by the elapsed time in minutes. Accuracy is calculated separately from all typed characters.

Does SquidType upload what I type?+

No. The typing engine and Smart Coach run in your browser. Prompt input and keystroke rhythm are analyzed locally, and recent result summaries stay on your device unless you clear browser storage.

Can I practice Arabic and programming code?+

Yes. SquidType includes right-to-left Arabic prompts plus seven other typing languages. Code mode supports JavaScript, Python, HTML and CSS, SQL, Rust and Java. Custom mode lets you practice your own locally processed text.

Which typing test duration should I choose?+

Use one minute for a quick WPM baseline, five minutes for a steadier measure of sustained accuracy, and ten minutes when you want to test endurance and concentration. Compare only results from the same duration.

Is the SquidType typing test free?+

Yes. The online typing test, result charts, local progress history, social sharing and PDF or PNG certificate downloads are free and do not require an account.
